...when we're reminded of pagan fertility rites (bunnies and eggs, anyone?) coupled with obnoxious Christian prattle about the "resurrection".
If childfree atheists had an "anti-holiday", methinks the modern combination of the Spring Equinox with Easter would be it. ;)

Re: It's That Time of Year....
Mon, April 12, 2004 - 5:45 PMIt was Easter? I barely noticed.
Thank goodness I hang out with a bunch of folks who don't have anything to do with religious holidays (of whatever religion) OR children. -

Thu, April 15, 2004 - 7:58 PMI do not understand why anyone would want children...unless they are lonely -

Re: It's That Time of Year....
Fri, April 16, 2004 - 5:38 PMPressure from friends/family/society I'm thinking. Being with someone great who suddenly decides their clock is ticking (male or female), probably as well.
Dating 30-somethings sucks. Most of them want kids and think because I'm female I should want to be a breeder. I think maybe I should wait until my 40s to mess with it again. -

Re: It's That Time of Year....
Thu, April 29, 2004 - 11:33 PMAh but it seems (at least to my aged memory :p) that when I was in my 20s men and women all were of the "maybe someday in the FAR future" thinking. I know that at 21 I figured I would someday want kids just not any day soon. It wasn't until 30 that I realized NO WAY. -

Mon, May 3, 2004 - 8:12 PMMost I run into seem quite adamant that they *will* have kids. Of course, I won't even go near someone who isn't 100% certain they *won't*. ;-)

Re: It's That Time of Year....
Sat, April 17, 2004 - 9:52 AMCouldn't agree more. The only time I remember that it's a holiday is that moment of deep annoyance when I want to shop or eat somewhere on a Sunday and I realize that the business is closed. What a useless holiday. Oh, childhood memories of church and family dinners...shudder. I think the only day that's nearly as irritating is Thanksgiving, for which we at least get a day off work.
